About

The sandwich generation refers to people in mid-life with aging frail parents and dependent children. https://en.wikipedia.or/wiki/Sandwich_generation. But there’s another kind of generational sandwich with an extra layer. The Club Sandwich Generation. https://ifstudies.org/blog/the-club-sandwich-generation. That’s me. I’ve got a frail mother, my three sons have not yet launched and I have two delicious grandchildren.

Aiming for Perfection

I’m a freelance journalist /editor, a nutritionist and recipe developer; I’m just about finished my third book; I run five miles a day; I bake my own bread, my house is spotless…NOT !!!

Truth is I have loads of unfulfilled career aspirations. I waste time like crazy and I can’t seem to balance my family responsibilities with my work life. I love my family. I enjoy seeing my grandchildren. I’m not keen on housework. I spend far too much time in the kitchen, but I’m no Martha Stewart.

And I haven’t mentioned my mother and her memory problems nor the fact that I have gained10 pounds in the last 10 years and my house is overflowing with stuff.

Super-moms

So this blog is about surviving in the Club Sandwich Zone. How do other people do it? I’d like to hear from domestic goddesses who run businesses or hospitals and wear Size 2. Women like the super mom Sarah Jessica Parker plays in the 2011 film, I Don’t Know How She Does She It https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Don%27t_Know_How_She_Does_It
